Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands where green rocks meet turquoise waters.  Justly famous for its long golden and white sand beaches and its clear water, the beaches are also notable for their unspoiled natural beauty.

Sitting side-by-side with the popular beaches are ruins from the Roman, Venetian and Byzantine times.

Some of Kefalonia’s villages are located in the mountainous interior areas and others are along the coastlines.

The capital, Argostoli, is where the sea disappears into subterranean tunnels and then reappears at Lake Melissani. The central square of the town, Plateia Valianou, is where you will find many bars, restaurants and cafes.  Another lovely village, 50 km from Argostoli, is Fiskardo.  This picturesque fishing village was one of the few that was not destroyed in the 1953 earthquake and so retains much of its charm.

There are enough amenities to make any stay pleasant but the locals are doing their best to retain the true flavor of the island.  This is a great spot for those who want a relaxing and authentic taste of Greece.
